PC Buddies can work in your office or your home, but it can be more efficient to either bring your machine to us or have us pick it up so that we can work on it in our shop.
Our Shop rates are significantly lower than the rates we charge on the road, AND they're lower than most of our competitors (believe us, we checked!). Anyone who lives near our Braintree office can bring their PC problems in to our Repair Shop. If we work on site we may ask if you'd prefer to have us take the machine to our shop.
The Advantages
It's substantially cheaper. This is because we can work on multiple pc's at once, and we don't have to charge you for sitting in your house waiting for programs to respond or download.
You can drop the machine off and pick it up at your convenience.
The Disadvantages
First, you have to be able to disconnect your PC and physically haul it down to our Braintree shop.
Sometimes, as crazy as it may seem, your problems might be caused by something besides your PC, like a printer, a faulty cable, or another attachment that isn't brought to our shop when you bring it in. If the problem is caused by something in your home that we cannot reproduce in our shops, we'll have a hard time fixing the problem.
And lastly you have to be able to re-connect everything once you're back home. It is easy to do more damage to your PC when cables, printers, and external drives are improperly plugged in. We'd hate to have to charge you again to come to your house and set things straight, but that's what we'd need to do. Sorry, but we can't be held responsible for those circumstances.
If you want PC Buddies to come to your location and pickup your computer we charge $50.00 flat fee on top of the charge for fixing your problem (to cover travel time and gas, etc.) which includes only;
Observing the machine and it's reported problem (no troubleshooting) in it's regular environment (your office or home).
Disconnecting the computer and assembling all necessary components for troubleshooting (special cords, software, etc).
Bringing your PC back to our shop.
After fixing the issue; Reconnecting, powering up and testing for Internet connectivity, printing and indicating that the original problem has been solved.
Shop Rates
For the first hour the rate is $80.00.
Every subsequent hour is $40.00. For those instances where the same machine needs a second round of troubleshooting, the lower rate is applied. In 90% of all cases we can fix the issue within two hours. If it seems like it's going to take longer we're fair about our pricing.
We will NEVER charge you a ridiculous amount of money to fix your computer. We are not The Geek Squad. We actually care about repeat customers.
If you choose to bring your PC to us, you should follow these rules:
Bring your original software, specifically your original Operating System or System Restore Disks. We ask for your original Software (CDs) because your software is licensed, and PC Buddies cannot and will not provide anyone with replacement software. Sometimes a a simple OS Repair Install using the original CD can solve otherwise unsolvable problems (and avoid wasted time).
Bring any and all Warranty Information. Quite simply, find out if your PC is still covered by some sort of hardware warranty. If you've paid for a warranty, let the manufacturer pay for the replacement parts. PC Buddies will do the work for you, but we will charge you for the labor.
If you're bringing a desktop or tower PC, bring only THE TOWER. We have mice, keyboards and power cords stacked to the ceiling. Bringing anything extra is not necessary and may result in it getting mixed in with our vast array of similar items.*
*Laptops must be accompanied by their original power adapter!
